HIP HIP HUPAI !!!

Bloggers sometimes miss an old post!!! To tell the truth, I didn't know that. I became aware of this fact today, when I came across the above photo of a kiwi (NOT the fruit, people, but a lovely bird that cannot fly!!!)

On August 11th, 2007, Diva Wizard posted a video, here, which we, MD's, had all watched and loved (view the post
here), and which motivated some heart-felt comments. The video, which had been uploaded to Youtube on June 27, 2006, is an animation about a kiwi that wants so much to fly that... (well, if you really want to know, you must watch the video (link here).

I MISS THAT POST, I MISS THE VIDEO!!!

Since the day it was uploaded, the video began its fantastic career on the internet. As of today, it has already been viewed 15.309.297 times, and received 37.737 comments. It was also favorited 127.253 times. A real phenomenon, right? Well, I really think it deserves all the fame!

By the way, the photo that illustrates this post has been recently released as part of a recent and important piece of news related to the conservation programme "Bank of New Zealand Operation Nest Egg" (see news here, at the site www.savethekiwi.org.nz) :

BNZ Operation Nest Egg
Our 1000th chick since BNZ Operation Nest Egg™ began in 1994 has hatched! Our new chick is named Hūpai, meaning “to overcome”. Hūpai hatched on 17th February 2008 at Kiwi Encounter in Rotorua.

For more about Hupai, click here. For photos of this very special chick, go here (in the photo above, Hupai was only a few hours old, but he is already cute and fluffy, don't you think?).

Good luck HUPAI! May the force be with you!!!
